Begin Again Transitional Services (B.A.T.S. for Veterans House) is seeking individuals who are dedicated and have a calling to work with our special population. Job title: Administrative Assistant

Reporting to: COO/Executive Vice President

Hours: Part time

Location: 15 Dixon Avenue, Liberty NY 12754

Purpose of the position is to assist the Executive staff of Begin Again Transitional Services, with the day-to-day operations. Develop administrative systems to help ensure its continued success.

Key responsibilities & duties:

Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to; photocopying, faxing, mail distribution and filing. Coordinates and maintain records for staff office, phones, manage company credit cards and office keys. Must possess proficient skills in computer operating systems/programs such as: MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Mac OS, as well as other computer applications necessary to fulfill the job responsibilities. Create and modify various documents. Maintain staffing schedules and executive staff calendars. Identify and maintain contacts of potential veteran intakes. Job title: Bookkeeper

Reporting to: COO/Executive Vice President & Governing Board

Purpose of the position is to assist the President and the Executive Vice President of Begin Again Transitional Services, to keep and maintain financial records and to help ensure its continued success.

Key responsibilities & duties:

Develops system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures. Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions. Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries. Must be proficient in Quick Books. MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Mac OS, Internet and other related skills… Perform other job related duties as assigned and needed.


Job title: House Manager

Reporting to: Administrators

Hours: Part time

Location: 15 Dixon Avenue, Liberty NY 12754

Purpose of the position is to assist the President and the Vice President of Begin Again Transitional Services in the day-to-day operations to help ensure its continued success.

Key responsibilities & duties:

Establish a healthy culture in the home that reflects our core values of love, acceptance, and accountability. Manage the daily operations in the home. This includes: managing the chore lists, food pantry, medications, moves, supply closet, and ensuring the residents actively participate in keeping their home and the grounds clean and organized. Participate in the initial resident interview to determine needed program services. Monitor and evaluate the resident’s self-sufficiency at screening into the program. Explain and enforce program policies and procedures to residents. Develop and maintain resident files, progress reports and periodic evaluations of the residents. Complete monthly and periodic operating and outcomes reports as required. Maintain strict resident confidentiality, objectivity, and professional boundaries. Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings and resident review meetings, and accept responsibility for the development of positive teamwork. Review, maintain and periodically operate the B.A.T.S. facility van; to assist veteran’s transportation to and from appointments, groups and other approved social functions.

Establish and maintain a good working relationships with agencies serving Begin Again Transitional Services. Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED and one year experience in a housing and human services agency.
  • Work experience in an agency delivering veterans services or a program for treating veterans and/or homeless veterans is preferred.
  • Within 90 days of hire achieves FDNY certification as one of the following: (1) Fire Drill Conductor, (2) Fire Guard or (3) Fire Safety Coordinator.
  • Ability to participate in CPR and First Aid training
  • Basic keyboard/computer skills a must.
